Vaaranam Ayiram is a story emphasizing the relationship between a father and a Son. Surya who has done a lot of hard work in this film potentially plays both characters. Sameera Reddy has been handled well by the director without any glamorous scenes, but her role in the film quite impressive. Simran has done well as Surya’s mother. Ramya too has done good role in the film.

The film first shows the character of father Surya whom falls in love at first sight with Simran and they both get married. In similar way his son Surya falls in love at first sight to Sameera Reddy. She does not believe in love at first sight and goes to America to do MS. The scene where Surya tries to impress her with his guitar is simply superb. He even goes to America to see her. His father Surya always supports him in whatever he does. Sameera then falls in love with Surya.

Sameera then dies in an accident, after which Surya becomes addicted to Drugs. His father helps him to come out of drugs. Ramya who is classmate of Surya’s sister loves him. He then accepts her love, works out in gym and joins in army, then he marries Ramya and at the end his father dies. The film revolves around two character’s Surya and his father. Gautam Menon has done justice to this film. He must be definitely praised for giving the audience a good family entertainer.
